This Week: May 5-10
We continue with our unit on "Death and Mortality" in literature and film.
Monday: We will finish our test on "Greasy Lake." If you are absent, please read the story in your anthology and see me to make up the test.

This Week: April 28-May 2

Monday - We will continue our discussion on satire and read "The Kuglemass Episode" by Woody Allen on page 21 of your anthology.
Homework - Answer the discussion questions based on the story. If you need a copy, click HERE.
Tuesday - We will review the questions from yesterday's story and be introduced to our next unit, "Death and Mortality." We will begin with a look at a poem from John Donne entitled Holy Sonnet #10 or "Death Be Not Proud." We will explicate the poem and  do an exercise in personification. Both handouts will count as a classwork/homework assignment for 10 points each. If you are absent, see the handouts below and download.

Thursday - Next story..."Greasy Lake" on page 142 of your anthology. We will read the story by Boyle, and take a reading quiz in class tomorrow.

This Week: April 21-25
We continue with our unit on "Love, Marriage, and Relationships" with our next story "Roman Fever" by Edith Wharton. The story is on page 1334 of your anthology.
Monday - Background notes on the author and her style. We will begin reading the story in class. Finish reading the story for homework. There will be a quiz tomorrow.
Tuesday - Quiz. We will be answering discussion questions. If you do not finish, please finish for homework. If you need a copy, click HERE.
Wednesday - Review of the questions and a look at a structural criticism of the story.
Thursday - A look at Satire...

This Week: April 7-11
This week we will be doing a film study in class. The film we will be viewing is Cool Hand Luke and it is considered a classic. Each day, you will be asked to complete a viewing study guide. You will be able to use these daily summary sheets to complete a quiz based on the film which will be given this Friday, 4/11. If you are absent, unexcused, from school, it is your responsibility to view the film so that you may make up the quiz. You will not get credit for the daily summary sheet unless you fill them out at home as well. See below for the handouts and for the quiz if you will be out on Friday 4/11.
